And just like that… February is here, with a quiet promise of renewal and warmth yet to come. February invites us to embrace moments of connection, whether through the cherished bonds shared with friends and family or the celebration of love on Valentine's Day. The origin of this holiday is rich in history, and people worldwide celebrate in both traditional and new ways.

It is estimated that 250 million roses are produced globally for this single day, with roses and tulips being the most popular flowers purchased. And over in Italy, every year on Valentine's Day (or thereabouts), the Secretaries of Juliet glean through hundreds of new submissions to bestow the "Dear Juliet" award, honoring the most beautifully written letter sent to Romeo's Shakespearean love interest.

This Valentine's Day, consider some new traditions you can implement to show you care, such as:

  • Send a contribution for World Cancer Day. February 4th is World Cancer Day, and donating to the American Cancer Society not only funds research but helps promote advocacy, education, and patient support. Learn more about the unique ways you can support the foundation and directly impact a patient's life.
  • Bake a new recipe for a loved one. This is a great excuse to try a new recipe you've been meaning to try or research a new one! The Food Network recently released a list of 75 healthy desserts that are sure to be a hit.

Did you know that February is Healthy Heart Month? This initiative is dedicated to raising awareness about heart disease and the importance of heart health. Our heart is constantly working overtime for our bodies, and in fact, a 70-year lifetime averages more than 2.5 billion heartbeats. This is a perfect time to discover even more fascinating statistics and learn how you can prioritize your heart health. Here are some ideas to get started:

  • Implement morning or evening teatime. Next to water, tea is one of the most popular beverages in the world and is loaded with antioxidants. Studies show that tea consumption and a heart-healthy diet can help prevent heart disease by boosting "good" cholesterol. Particularly, there is an increasing evidence that suggests both black and green tea are beneficial for cardiovascular disease prevention.
  • Start a heart walk step challenge. We could all use some movement to protect the hearts we love. This month, consider joining a heart walk step challenge, such as the one from the American Heart Association. This is also a wonderful opportunity to get more involved with your community.

During this period of renewal and optimism, it's an opportune time to explore how you can achieve financial wellness for yourself and your family. Looking ahead can include working towards long-term goals, such as planning for retirement or saving for a child's education. When you have a secure plan in motion, you will feel more confident in your financial future. As we journey through the rest of 2025, don't hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns. We'd love to hear from you! Have a happy and warm February.
